10002 80 San O' Weekend 2007 68 surflugen Jul 26, 2007 2007-07-26T07:01:55-0400 I heard the same thing that they are going to start cracking down on alcohol on the beach. Contrary to everyones belief, it is illegal to have alcohol on the beach or in the parking lot in public as it is not a camp ground, but it was rarely ever enforced unless someone gets out of control. I hear that the warnings are coming down to let everyone know they will start citing people this summer becuase they are trying to curb the underage drinking. It has been getting worse and getting the beach in trouble with the state because kids getting busted drunk are telling the cops they got drunk down at San O for which they only see as someone was "contributing to a minor."

10022 80 San O' Weekend 2007 73 Otter Jul 26, 2007 2007-07-26T15:48:08-0400 We had a B-day party for myself at San O on 07.07.07. Instead of drinking out of the typical red/blue/yellow plastic cups, we used empty soda cans. No hassle whatsoever. Be discreet, no worries I believe.

Hit 7 Eleven in the morning for the Big Gulp cups , last you all day. I heard from a friend who's a Dog Patch regular that it's not the Park Rangers who are being strict with enforcement , but the other authorities. I witnessed black uniforms walking around the day of Otter's B-day. I'll get a first hand update when it gets closer to the date. Ah.... San Clemente liquor stores... the only place I know where to get Imperial Beer ! Dewey: I think the glassing place next to Bing / Jacobs is called Shoreline Glassing. You all: My vote is for Friday afternoon for the Surfing Heritage Museum tour. If we went on Saturday afternoon , we might come back to a line at the gate... then again it is after Labor Day....kids back in school,etc.,etc. Ah, heck...I'm open! WN
10035 80 San O' Weekend 2007 75 Miles Jul 27, 2007 2007-07-27T06:53:06-0400 As for the Heritage on Friday afternoon, there are a couple of other things happening Friday I believe like visiting the Anderson Factory after Malibu and maybe something else that I can't remember. There are enough of us that maybe they'd hold it open on Sat. night after surfing. Particularly if we paid a $10 donation each. It's well worth that.
10038 80 San O' Weekend 2007 76 little AL Jul 27, 2007 2007-07-27T10:16:19-0400 I just email Sean, and ask him about tee shirts he said he would start working on a design. I told him he had 2 month so we should have enough time. He also said he may not be able to make it again this year, because he and his wife just had an other daughter. I think a few of you should email him and tell him he should really try and make it this year, I mean after all he got a kink in his neck the second year, and was not there last year, this year he should at least show up again.
10041 80 San O' Weekend 2007 77 woodnsea Jul 27, 2007 2007-07-27T18:33:26-0400 I called Surfing Heritage Foundation this afternoon and they said that Saturday hours for the 15th are 11am-3pm. They are also planning a movie night that evening (I think outside) showing 5 Summer Stories. They are getting some of the guys who were in the film to be there and mentioned that if it doesn't work for those dudes on Sat. night, then it would be moved to Friday night. So that's the latest. Miles is right - Friday is looking full, Sat. afternoon is an option, Sat. night is an option (might be a small fee for the movie-I'll check), I'm not sure about a line to get back into San'O on a Sat. afternoon in Sept. and I don't want to steer people away from all the festivities and frollicking at the San Mateo campsite. So keep on replyin' with your votes and it'll be a good time no matter what we decide. So far: mch904,mro87,grush,dewey,waterlogged nomad, woodnsea are a yes. Mark

Bing/Moonshadow, are you coming? Same question to Jim Phillips, Gene, Matt, Margaret, Austin Lonedog, you are in charge of the entertainment, and no, bringing Chris is not enough (although your guitar playing friend will do it). Any of you guys who are flying, just PM me and I'll make a list of what I need to bring. I'm awaiting the birth of my daughter who is due to make her appearance on the 8th of Sept. If Jim isn't in Mexico I'll prod him to make it down there with some toys. Pour a little rum on the ground for me. Glassy waves and uncrowded days to all of you...have a great time!

I have a site and so far there is only 3 of us (grush, myself, and another friend). I have to check my PMs for one guy from NY that wanted in, but that leaves a few available places for people to crash at our site. I should be booking the planes tickets this weekend flying from Phila to LAX. Coming out Thurs PM and back Monday PM if anyone else from out east wants to tag along. I think grush has the wheels lined up. I might need to make a detour to Ventura, but def want to surf the 'bu Friday AM. NYC stole my name!!

The family might be in tow - you have been warned! Also, if anyone needs tents, sleeping pads, bags etc. surfboards (usually not a problem if Miles is around) let me know - we have plenty to go around. GT
10158 80 San O' Weekend 2007 133 Mango Bill Aug 4, 2007 2007-08-04T01:28:06-0400 I have site148 and one vehicle, and one tent, two laketards, and several surfboards so anyone in need of a spot to park or put a tent up is welcome to use the space and take a ride on the boards.I think the biggest problem is how many vehicles on a spot verses number of people the limit is two for free after that you have to pay. Mango Bill
10159 80 San O' Weekend 2007 134 little AL Aug 4, 2007 2007-08-04T02:32:03-0400 Bill, you can have as many cars as you can fit, which means it all depends on the size of each, normaly cars you can get up to 4 per site, but normaly it like 3. I don't remember if there is outside parking at this camp grounds, at some of them you can part a car outside the grounds and someone can drive you and your gear in just a thought. I'm guessing we will be doing just fine over the last two years there has always been a site or two that had room for one of us to park/sleep. For the most part this is a great bunch of guy/gals or at least those that have shown up for the weekend at least have been, I don't think I have ever been with this many people in one place that were all willing to give you what ever they had if you needed it. Hopefully this year will be no different.

I'll prolly drive so I can bring my boards and not listen to Lonedog remind me about the dings I've put into his boards. Sorry, bro! I'll also bring a sleeping bag this year so I don't have to sleep in a board bag again.
10186 80 San O' Weekend 2007 142 little AL Aug 6, 2007 2007-08-06T11:26:08-0400 Nothing wrong with sleeping in/on a board bag, I've used mine for padding many a time, and our guide down in Panama was really happy to use our board bags to sleep on, he was sleeping out in his truck and the bugs were eating him alive so we let him come into our room, there was 3 of us and only 3 beds so he took the floor on 3 board bags.
10187 80 San O' Weekend 2007 143 surflugen Aug 7, 2007 2007-08-07T04:49:26-0400 Is anyone else bringing little ones with them. I am not sure if my familly can make it or not but we will try. My wife and I both surf and we have a 3-year-old (who will be just before the event) and an infant that my wife and I trade off watching while the other surfs. My oldest boy love San'O and calls it "Jungle Beach" because of the bambo forrest growing around the showers. We trek through pretending to look for tigers and monkeys. It is possible he may be doing a little surfing if there is a good sand bar built up in some area that happens once in a while.

10196 80 San O' Weekend 2007 150 Miles Aug 7, 2007 2007-08-07T11:38:53-0400 South Padre Island is the best surf and could work. The parking lot is close to the beach. Packery Channel near Corpus Christi or Horace Caldwell Pier at Port Aransas are both possibilities and you can drive on the beach at both places. There is no place on the Gulf side of Mexico to surf within a day trip, besides not being particularly safe for the last few years.

Any chance that LBM can set up a poll to try to get a count for sat and sun at sano? My guess is that as long as we act like we normally do and not congregate in one large group we won;t have a hassle, but it would be useful to know about how many folks are going to be there.
