100015 2798 Tamarindo 5 slideright Jul 25, 2016 2016-07-25T10:35:52-0400 Ive surfed the river mouth as well, and a croc cruised right through the line-up. Being from Florida, I have encountered countless sharks, and even Gators. But nothing scared me as much as that beast. I also read the poor guy lost his leg.
100019 2798 Tamarindo 6 TonyPR Jul 25, 2016 2016-07-25T10:55:09-0400 With crocodiles we are on the menu, surfed Tivives with a tico friend and a fellow boricua, water was murky and rain had logs and branches floating around. If my friends both caught waves and I was left outside alone waiting for a set those floating logs started to look very suspicious. When we got back to my tico friend's parents house his father started screaming at him "por qué los llevaste a Tivives, sabes que un coco se comió a un ****** la semana pasada en ese mismo lugar!!!"

100069 2798 Tamarindo 8 pintail Jul 26, 2016 2016-07-25T20:42:23-0400 A buddy of mine was surfing there and got pulled off his board by a croc. He thrashed around and somehow got loose with just a ragged wound. He had it sutured there, got infected, went back to the US and had it properly treated. Now he's got an interesting scar and story. The locals who know him still call him "El Crocadilio".

John, GW's don't bother me. Crocs do. Spent some time in Manuel Antonio seeing these critters in an area I wanted to paddle out to. No way. Then in the air south of Dominical seeing those damn crocs in shore and sharks offshore with a few hardy surfers sandwiched in between . The pilot, an old SD surfer looked at me and said, yea really want me to land ya down there!
100072 2798 Tamarindo 10 Ticowannabe Jul 26, 2016 2016-07-25T21:44:53-0400 i remember that story Tom, where were you exactly? informative, check out the map http://www.crocodile-attack.info/data/map
99980 2798 Tamarindo 1 miscreant Jul 25, 2016 2016-07-25T05:59:42-0400 ive surfed this rivermouth countless times. I've swam across this River at dark after surfing Grande too late in the evening. Be warned, this link has some gruesome photos. http://stabmag.com/news/crocodile-attacks-surfer-in-costa-rica-warning-graphic-imagery-inside/
99981 2798 Tamarindo 2 bing_nose Jul 25, 2016 2016-07-25T06:08:00-0400 yikes - I remember paddling across a couple rivers in Tamarindo with my feet as far in the air as possible. In the book "Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica" they are very upfront about the possibility of crocs in the lineups around rivermouths. Hope this guy is alright.
99982 2798 Tamarindo 3 Chilly Willy Jul 25, 2016 2016-07-25T06:10:13-0400 Wow. How awful. I've surfed there too, and it's still weird to imagine it happening despite all the warnings of saltwater crocs you see around that area.
