19216 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 1 grush Feb 13, 2009 2009-02-13T01:37:40-0500 I remember some chatter earlier about moving the dates around. Did we ever arrive at a date that works for most? Does anyone know when the campground begins taking reservations? For anyone who is renting a VW camper, get them early as he was all booked up for our gathering last year. Ned, are you doing the permit this year?
19221 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 2 nedsurf Feb 13, 2009 2009-02-13T02:34:05-0500 1st weekend of October. The permit is up in the air. I put in the application but was told they were in the process of changing stuff around. I'll check again to see where we are - the supervising ranger has my permit application.
19226 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 3 silversurf Feb 13, 2009 2009-02-13T04:45:05-0500 As I recall, you can get campground reservations for September dates beginning on March 1, so if it's the first week of October, reservations might not open until April 1. Mike

Please choose an earlier arrival date or check back later." Yep you have to log in on on the 1st (dosen't if the 1st is on a weekend either - a mistake I have made before) 6 months in advance of the month you wish to reserve in. So April 1st, 8am PST. My wife usually sets up two accounts on our two computers and starts clicking away at 8am trying to get primo sites. What sites will everyone be trying to get? I would like to know so we can try for the same area.

19583 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 18 h2oman Mar 26, 2009 2009-03-26T06:16:53-0400 I know the gathering is months away but there are some really cheap airfares out there. I'll be going BWI-LAX and tickets are at $190 round trip:shock:. I don't see them getting any lower so get the deals while you can. I'm definitely going to the Harbour shop when I get there. I may or may not head up to Malibu but I'll def be at Sano, I can't wait.
19584 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 19 h2oman Mar 27, 2009 2009-03-27T10:22:58-0400 Gonna go ahead and book a flight soon since the fares are so cheap and I found a non stop flight. I plan on flying back on Monday. Are there a decent amount of people still at Sano for Sunday? I plan on being there for Sat and Sun, I'll probably fly in on Friday and stop at the Harbour shop on my way down to Sano.

Some go to other local spots on Sunday also.
19586 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 21 little AL Mar 27, 2009 2009-03-27T13:02:49-0400 Guys, I'm going to try and put together tee shirts for this year. Sean quit because he was loosing money on the deal so here is what I plan on doing. I will take orders, and you will pay up front for the tee shirts you order if you are not going to be coming to the SanO weekend and want me to ship you some tee shirts I will have to find out what it will cost me to mail them out and you will have to pay for mailing, as well as a container to mail them out in. As it seems Sean trusting everyone did not work out you all will have to put your trust in me. I will except your orders and then I will let you know the price. I plan on charging just the cost of the tee shirt and the screening, so the price should be real fair I'm guessing under $10 each. I will do long sleeve only if I get enough orders. Also if there are not enough orders we will not get tee shirts. They will come in white only this year. Lance Carson has agreed to help me with the art work and getting the shirts made so this will not be a piece of crap tee shirt that I have designed he and I have talked about a few ideas that I have and if at all possible I will post a pic of what we come up with. Oh yea since this is my idea I will not be taking any advice on ideas for the art work. I will except orders until July 1st, your order must state the size and number of shirts you want, then I will figure out the cost per shirt and post the cost per shirt. You must pay for the shirts by the first of Aug. and at that time I will place the order for the Tees. Let me know if you are all up for this as I need to get this going real soon.

We were neighbors a couple of years ago at a San O gathering, hope to run into some of you folks again. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say 'To-morrow was Surfest at San O.' Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say 'These wounds I had on Surfest's day.' Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words- Crush, Joe Angel, Etmo, Math Teacher and Mentos, So Cal and Brown, Bream and Otter- Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Surfest San O shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that rides these waves with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in California now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That surfed with us upon San O Surfest's day. When he was younger, we use to pretend we on a Jungle tour looking for wild animal as we explored the paths of those bamboo areas. I think this will be a good year for surf as the last couple of years seemed to missed a larger swell by a week.

Mine is a off red VW bus 2000, my buds is a Chevy I think. That way you will only have to pay for a extra car fee, not a camp site. I normally stay on the lower road down by the river bed, towards the ocean. PM me and I will give you my cell number and you can call when you think you will be getting in. They raised all the park prices cause of budget issues. Possibility I would share with someone but my situation is still way up in the air. 21639 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 87 little AL Sep 5, 2009 2009-09-05T03:08:17-0400 Tee shirts, if you have already placed your order you in if not I will have a few extras but will not ship the extras. If you have ordered tee shirts send your check, cash, or money order to. 2881 Chesterfield Dr. Santa Cruz CA 95062. You will need to have a note in the envelope with your screen name, real name, address to send it to number and size of the tee shirts ordered. If you did not already send me an email your to late to get a tee shirt for this year. The cost is $10 per shirt, plus shipping which is going to be $5.00 per shirt or two, $ 5.00 for 3 to 4, and so on. I will be shipping just as soon as I get the money, and the checks clear the bank, and I get the time. If your not going to be at SanO it should not be a big deal to you if your shirts show up after the weekend of the meeting. G-Coast I still do not know what the tee shirt is going to look like I along with everyone else will have to trust Gene to do what he does best, be creative and come up with something that will work. I can tell you one thing it will say SanO Weekend 2009 and Longboard.net. Which is all that it really need to say.

21641 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 89 Miles Sep 5, 2009 2009-09-05T04:00:02-0400 Should it say $10 for 3 to 4?
21642 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 90 little AL Sep 5, 2009 2009-09-05T04:16:01-0400 It should say $5.00 more for the next 2. Or yes $10 for 3 to 4, $15.00 for 5 to 6, and so on. Thank you Miles for pointing that out. If I can get more the 2 in a box I will return your the extra money with the shirts. I'm not hear to make money neither is Gene. And as G coast said I will not do this again. Not only did it blow up in my face one time, but my work hours have gone off the map. When there is surf I seem to be hurt,or out of town. When I'm in town or feel good it is flat. Please no one ask me to stay hurt so the surf will be good. I still have to work when I'm hurting and I do not look forward to getting on an airplane for 4 or 5 hours when my back is tweaked. mhc904 wrote: Should it say $10 for 3 to 4? Click to expand...

21645 244 This Year's SanO Gathering 93 little AL Sep 5, 2009 2009-09-05T05:21:55-0400 When I first started this I said I would not even order the shirts until I had the money in hand. In order to just make the weekend there will not be any time for that. So I guess I'm saying if you are going to make it to SanO weekend just wait unit then and I will hand out the shirts and take the money, but it will need to be cash as I will not have time to make sure the check clears. The design is not even done yet as we got a late start on all of this. I'm not going to push Gene as we would not even be having tee shirts if he had not stepped in and offered to get the design done and have them made for us. Lets hear it for Gene YOU the MAN.
