Waiting to hear on shipping costs... Went this route cause I had a unique shape in mind and Jacobs takes and modifications on the designs have left me blown away the past year. He is super open and a pleasure to work with. Malcolm had also just announced a hiatus and a heavy backlog... Don't quote me on that wait time. I know that there are supply shortages and board demand etc. Jacob also has a new 8 month old so is in full time Dad mode making work a challenge... Killer experience and will be fingers crossed getting this board soon. I'm really proud how it turned out. |

A bit of a reach out of the ol’ quiver comfort zone for me. But I’d never really seen anything like it. Anyone else on here have one of his boards? I’ve only seen like maybe two out in the wild. I think what drew me to it is the pronounced flat /step deck + with the (very) down rails. Smart way to keep both volume + performance up. Simple and subtle flat->single->double out the tail Hafta say been pleasantly surprised. Turns like a much smaller twin, trims surprisingly well. Definetly wants a bigger wave, but works just fine in doing Cheater 5s in knee high stuff. |

We miss out on swell if there is any North in it (Cornwall was bigger today, for example) but there are more nooks and crannies and little corners with different waves up here. No names, cos it's the interwebs lol.. There are lots of spots/conditions where it will really shine but from the 2 short surfs I've had on it so far in chest high beachbreak, it will go well in all sorts. It has a mellow but continuous rocker, so isn't as specialised as a Pointbreaker or such like. Same deal as the Outlier I guess..? |

I didn't notice the foil. Regarding the variation in amount of toe-in based on symmetric vs asymmetric foil; what's your understanding of the rationale? If it just 'feels better' that's reason enough. |

I've also been told that the angle of the fins if you were to take a string from the fin to the nose it would match the angle if that makes sense... who knows. But I feel with the fins angle slightly in more theres more drive, where if they were straight it would be a more loose feeling. |

But I feel with the fins angle slightly in more theres more drive, where if they were straight it would be a more loose feeling. Click to expand... I would interpret "more straight" as more parallel to center stringer. Toe in is defined as the relationship/distance (of) leading edge of the fin to stringer versus trailing edge of fin to stringer. Straight creates more drive or tracking, particularly w/a flat inside foiled fin. Fish are commonly short, and if the keels are 50/50 foiled many people opt for less toe in @ 1/8" (leading edge 1/8" closer to center than trailing edge) or even entire fin parallel to stringer. The "string would match to angle" comment refers to trajectory of fin toward the nose. Using string or a straight edge, the line extending from the fin might point directly at the nose, intersect before the nose, or be offset toward rail from the nose. This cause & effect triangulation is largely open to personal preference. Cant aka fin tilt also plays into the surfboard's feel. More cant, meaning the tip of the fins splay further out (toward rail) from the bottom than the base, produces easier turning while more vertical creates more drive. Historically the cant of Bonzer runners were extreme at 19 degrees while the pre-built cant in Futures Fins are 6 to 6.5 degrees. FCS Fusion boxes are offered in 0, 5, & 8 degrees to accommodate different bottom configurations. When we first started building versions of Simon Anderson''s Thruster design, circa 1981, most of us opted for a cant of 3 degrees. |
