Tickets just went on sale yesterday. I've never seen him, but a friend said he is great in concert (and really really loud). Sounds fun. http://www.reddevillounge.com/calendar_september07.html |

Icky Thump is good. havn't listened to da whole album, but a few of the bigger songs are good. I've been listening to a John Frusciante a lot lately. Anyone else like him? I bought one CD last year, but just started listening to it a month ago. Since then, I've bought all of his CD's and they are all masterpieces. Yeah yeah yeahs new EP is pretty rad too. "Down Boy" is great. Interpol's new album (Our Love to Admire) is also amazing. Went to their concert the other night and was one of the best I've been to. On that CD, the standouts for me are "Pioneer to the Falls", "The Henrich Maneuver", "All Fired Up", and "Rest My Chemistry." Also have been listening to RUSH a lot. Man, that drummer is unreal! |

Other things just make me smile every time I hear 'em, like Joe Morello's drum solo in Brubeck's "Take Five" or T. Monk's pounding piano on "Blue Monk." Ironically, the total and complete lack of swell we've had this year (a bad fall, followed by a bad winter, bad spring, and so so summer) leaves me in many ways feeling like this song. Though i suppose that Lou Reed's lyrics are more tied to he being a junkie at the time rather than a surfer awaiting some swell. |
