| 59644 | 605 | Bonzers. Why? | 3 | garagefull | Jul 18, 2014 | 2014-07-18T16:27:39-0400 | The retro 3 fin Bonzer with the super deep channels feel like they have a 5th gear. I found it a very noticeable feeling right from the first wave. They also feel like the tail is going to spin out at times, yet I never had that happen. The modern 5 fin version has softer channels. I also found the Bonzer 5 to turn in a tighter arc. I've had 3 of the Campbell Bonzer 5 speed eggs, started at 7' and worked up to the current 7'6. I've taken them to Mexico and El Salvador and rode them in some fairly hollow pointbreaks. Not Indo hollow, but good or better than California hollow. The Bonzer 5 can be pushed as hard as you want on the bottom turn, it almost feels like it is on a rail, it is so solid banking off the trough, but coming out of the turn at high speed. If I was taking a trip to surf good, lined up pointbreaks, I'd bring a Bonzer as one of my two boards. |
