298892 17382 California--Current State of Living? 1 txgrinder Dec 2, 2023 2023-12-02T08:39:23-0500 My wife and I were reminiscing this morning, wondering if it's really as bad in CA as you "hear" or if its just state of mind for those who "escaped"? In all honesty, I'd live there again, even in the current climate that seems rampant. Anyone mind giving some input from their perspective? Disclaimer: This is NOT NOT NOT a political discussion and please don't assume I am some Trump loving death monger. It's a simple question of "what is like currently to reside in SD or OC county. When we left in 2020 to come back to my wife's home state of Texas, it was pretty tough to make it on anything less than a 6 figure income 2 kiddos. The political/social climate I just ignored. I have a good many friends who are firearm instructors in the state, so I know what my limitations or hurdles are there. I did meet a pretty nice family from OC at the last Tactical Games I competed in. The parents drive their 2 teenagers around to compete in these events. They told me that the OC kinda stayed out of the BS and just did it's own thing. No mask enforcement and all the stuff that happened 2 years ago. Our small Texas town here has very quickly turned into an over run chaotic mess with all of the immigrants, not just Californians (Oregonians, Washington, Colorado, Nevada). It really is VERY notable how different it is here even a year later. I counted 3 expired CA plates yesterday...no doubt trying to avoid the horrendous CA fees that the DMV can be. It's no longer safe haven here. Traffic is as bad as anywhere I drove in SD county and the infrastructure is suffering due to the demand. Sound familiar??? Anyways, thought it would be good to hear from the real boots on the ground, not the disgrunts who are now in my sandbox, sans changed thinking or Texas ideals.
