The fact is there are a scant 56k Mensa members in the United States (about 110K worldwide) representing the upper 2% of IQ having an accepted score on the Stanford-Binet of 132. The Cattell is 148 and it is 130 on the Wechsler test. Most IQ tests are designed to yield a mean score of 100 with a std. deviation of 15. The 98th percentile score is under these conditions is 131, assuming a normal distribution. The average IQ in USA is 98. The easiest way to determine if someone is a Mensa member is ask them to show you their card. However, IF I show you my Mensa card, then I have to kill you. Many people wonder who is Mensa when it comes to celebrities & public figures. Bill Clinton, Sharon Stone, Geena Davis...... of these three, Geena is the only card holding member. One of the highst IQ celebrities on the planet is......... Kate Beckinsale. At a younger age, she tested around 152 or 156. At one point in time she stated in an interview that her intelligence had a negative impact on her career until she finally got some breaks in epic films like "Pearl Harbor" and then the "Underworld" & "Van Helsing" series. It is plausible that Pavel may be in the uppper 15% of Americans in IQ, however the supposition that high IQ equates to ""Genius" is somewhat fleeting. In recent times, we've seen how Americans have embraced an utter disdain for logic or fact checking preferring to rally around emotional rhetoric oddly reminiscent to Hitler's rise to power, Putin's current "special military operation" or Trump's attempted coup of January 6th. Many Americans appear to be mimicking or doing a damn good impersonation of lemmings racing toward the cliff. I have witnessed Toby (on Vimeo) purporting to be highly intelligent while combining words that might appear to be part of a highl brow monologue or solilooquy, yet I would have a difficult time interpretting what he said due to the appreciable degree of misuse of the Queen's English...... and that's not simply because he is a Colonist. I have to admit, I don't speak Jabberwocky. At the end of the day, most importantly, and pertinent to this forum, do the boards work......... I watched a video of Shane Dorian absolutely ripping on one of his "Speed Dialers". The visual served as irrefutable evidence, that this uber gifted surfer was truly set free on a sled that was clearly working, and working quite well. The big question seems to be whether you can get one, or not, and if you are willing to go thru an inordinate amount of effort to acquire one. AND DON'T FORGET THE BOTTOM LINE WHEN IT COMES TO THE GREAT "MAGIC SURFBOARD" DEBATE: ONE MAN'S MAGIC IS ANOTHER MAN'S POISON. ...... the rest is just details. Click to expand... I have a hard time believing he could find his way, let alone make it on time to the testing center to even sit for these exams. To do both of those would take a small amount of time and commitment. In my experience (personally & separately through dealing with him while working at a surf shop), he's a nice enough guy but sorely lacks integrity and commitment. So yes I went there (in jest), no I don't personally believe he's a Mensa member, and third I agree with your opinion on the verbal diarrhea. HOWEVER, I love having him as a character in the industry. In my opinion he has become a parody of himself (for better or worse). |
