| 240458 | 12565 | 1 Board, 3 Board, & 5 Board Quiver | 22 | ks77 | Mar 9, 2022 | 2022-03-09T11:39:00-0500 | Given how much love there seems to be on the forum for gliders, I'm surprised about the relative absence of big boards on this list Here is my two cents based on the limited boards I have experience with, being in my mid 40s, mostly surfing in the Los Angeles area with occasional surfs a little south or north of here. 1 Board: - 7'7" Thick Lizzy - this board was fun in tiny stuff up to about head high and at both points and beach breaks (as long as it wasn't too dumpy); sold it to try the Drifter below 3 Boards: - some sort of mini-simmons(ish) board (currently a 5'10" Nine Lights mini bob, formerly a 5'8" Mabile Ghostbuster) - these are a fun and fast alternative for small days when I don't want to longboard or am at a spot where longboards are frowned upon; paddles well to compete at crowded spots or to sit inside and have fun on the waves that slip through the crowd - some sort of egg(ish) board for the good, decently sized days (currently a 7'0" CB bonzer speed egg - I want to trade up for a slightly larger one) - some sort of longboard(ish) board for most summer days around here (think I'd pick my 9'6" Thick Lizzy for its versatility, speed, and amount of fun it is, but would miss occasionally having a board that can noseride) 5 Boards: - mini-simmons(ish) - see above - egg(ish) - see above - fish simmons in the 8'6" to 9' range (currently a 8'6" MM Drifter) - this is for smaller days at beach breaks or good days at a spot like Malibu - longboard - not really settled on one yet - waffling between something like my Thick Lizzy, a traditional noserider or perhaps something more turning and trim oriented (open to suggestions) - glider - say 10'6" eagle - for trips down to SanO and maybe small days elsewhere and just a generally different feeling Few boards I'm curious to try that would maybe replace something here: a Magic in the 7'2 to 7'6" range, a CB MBLV, and a long fish in the 6'8" to 6'10" range. |
