To be fair, as I've posted before, a proper hull on a lined up (frontside) wave does give you a fairly unique fun feeling. There's a slippery ness and spring from the fin and rail engagement as you bottom turn and high line trim that is enjoyable and not quite like anything else. They are also niche enough to be evangelised about by those "in the club" But they are very one dimensional in the way they surf and the wave they need. They are not properly functional when held up against other boards. That is part of the appeal to some. They look like they are hard to ride because they kind of are -at least to get them to break a very lateral trim line. Surfing on one feels far better to the pilot than the surfing looks to an observer. Click to expand... Without prejudice, this comment exposes too many reductive cliches to unpick. Surfboards are tools to access and enjoy a profound aesthetic experience, that is their practical value. All of us should feel safe and free from cultural judgement when choosing what we ride.
