| 100557 | 486 | How was your surf today?....share your stoke! | 2611 | newlyn | Jul 31, 2016 | 2016-07-31T16:18:17-0400 | I missed the offshores in Seaside on Saturday, but had some fun later in the morning around low tide. I took out my 10 ft Wilson Butternut. I hadn't ridden that board in almost two years, and what a difference that two years made in my skill level and ability to ride it. Whereas in the past I was constantly nosediving, I have now started to master the angled takeoff and had some really fun rides. I also did something I have never done before -- I stayed on a high line and right inside the pocket. I fell off when I tried to get up on the nose, but it was a very different feeling from the rides I have been getting on my Austin stubby, which, for me, tends to outrun the wave. I think at 10ft that board is a little more than I need, but had lots of fun and looking forward to next weekend, when I can ride it some more. |
