10026 134 Why do some folks skip waxing the nose? 15 NJ Longboarder Jul 27, 2007 2007-07-27T01:42:27-0400 A guy at my local break surfs around a 7'6"-8'0" hybrid/shortboard/funshape thing. He doesn't wax the nose, which is fine by me for the style of board, but he doesn't wax the back 18" inches. I've watched him surf and he just pops up with his feel in the midpoint of the board and never moves his back foot back over the tail. He surfs from the middle of the board the whole time and actually does half decent, just never a cutback or turn that requires the rear foot to be over the fins. To each his own, but the guys tries to catch everything and can be a bit lippy, so I am not too fond of him. He is an older gentleman, so I guess he is just set in his ways and I should respect my elders or I can just pretend to be deaf whenever the guy speaks. I choose option 2. Sometimes the "sorry, I had water in my ear and I don't think I heard you correctly" helps people rethink their previous statments. If you ever hear that from me, it just means I didn't like the noise that is coming out of you mouth.
