I really liked the SOS but wanted it thicker and the overall outline a touch wider. Having owned a SOS I was able to template the rocker and outline. I used the outline and majority of the rocker but did take minor liberties in order to sway the shape torwards a noserider. He gave me free reign to do what I wanted. Ended up shaping a board that has been in my head for a little while. The back story is I rode finward's wing nose and fucking loved it. So I took the wing nose from his board and shaped it into the SOS. It also got a shallow channel to flatten the stringer rocker. A little scoop tail for added flair and wrapped it nice and tight with my best attempt at cooperfish rails. Went with more of a hornet rail and roll versus the golf ball rails of hilbers. I feel like it will hold a wall better and handle our steeper surf. All in all very stoked and have not seen an SOS built in this fashion so I'm pretty stoked there as well. Hers a few pics. I like this photo of my 12'0"" GP (Gordon/Palandrani) noseglider. I recently had the chance to talk with Nick P about this shape and it was pretty enlightening. He said he's used it in up to 3xOH waves around Santa Cruz (not Mavs, but another break I can't recall the name of not far away) and that it was a personal board he really liked. Our own evol (Christian) has ridden the board too and enjoyed it. All of the long panels are resin, not cloth. That's a 1/2"" red cedar stick and Bruce glued up the blank himself. Nick said if I want to get it to noseride, I'd need to put a full on skeg in it. That'll happen the next time I surf this board. For a 12er, it's an amazingly sensitive board, very foiled with slightly down rails in the tail. Glassed with 7.5 oz. volan. Last time I used it, I went with an 8.5"" CC Tracker flex fin and I liked that one quite a lot. It's a cool board; I'm grateful to Miles for selling it and to Wade for helping get the board into my hands via Hugh. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Image processing.
