I had a 9'10"", 23.5"" wide and sub 3"" thick. Very smooth, easy to surf board that really only needed a small step forward to be on the gas. Super mellow bottom contours that you'd mistake for completely flat if you didn't have a ruler to check it. It's funny, hearing that Cliff wanted some extra v further up toward the middle makes me think that you'd really be able to do alot from the sweet spot on this board and not have to move around much at all if you didn't want to. The board is kinda down rail, like 70/30 through most of the center but more like 50/50 in the nose, and pretty knifey foiled tail with edge that started right around the front of the fin. It was plenty walkable mostly due to the width and pretty flat bottom. I never once felt the urge to try to noseride it, always just enjoyed nice swoopy turns and flying through sections. I rode a 9.75"" 4a fin in it and it felt perfect, but feel like you'd need to go a bit bigger and stiffer on the fin to slow it down some and keep it near the pocket if you wanted to noseride, otherwise it wants to run. I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to the consumer sentiment in terms of glassing on the boards. I know that the glass jobs have been a problematic subject when it comes to our boards in terms of durability on smaller shapes. In my opinion I think that the holeshot should absolutely come with a non tint/deck patch set up as well as a standard 4/4 4. (holeshot w patch) View attachment 1764778674522.png It's a give and take when it comes to retailers because they know what's best for the area they want to sell boards, but then I and Chris have no input really when it comes to what they order. I am not a shortboarder and never see myself being one so I'm not privy to boards glassed 4+4/4 in terms of performance and durability but I can grasp what you and others have said. It seems as though the smaller guys (5'10 170 and below) love the glass jobs while the more average sized and up crowd are more prone to having pressures. @urchin you probably have more experience than me when it comes to the subject of soft blanks, I'l bring it up in my next meeting w Chris. I've owned single-fin Trackers in the past and really liked them in the right waves, so I'm guessing the twin version is just a looser, skatier take, but I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually spent time on one. Also, if anyone has compared a Twin Tracker to a Lane Splitter, I'd really appreciate a report. I recently picked up a Lane Splitter and, as someone who doesn't ride a lot of shorter boards, it feels pretty performance-y. Curious if the Twin Tracker is, or feels like, a more cruisey version of the Lane Splitter. Got a cafe racer 2.0 question. I had an OG that I used to mainly to grovel in beach break. The redesign seems like the board’s a bit trimmer with a touch more nose rocker - does it lose some of its small wave ability with the 2.0 elements? Also, if ordered as a thruster, would it be usable as a twin+trailer - or are the thruster/twin+trailer set ups mutually exclusive? The 5 fin config is meant to be a quad or 2+1 so I'd figure you'd have to decide between thruster or 2+1 based off of those fin setups. I'm not a 3 fin guy po shortboarder so I could be wrong but Chris has mentioned that you really aren't supposed to ride the 5 fin as a thruster. The Cafe Racer 2.0 is trimmer and no longer has the beaked nose as a result. For people wanting a 2 shortboard quiver I'd go cafe racer as the shortboard and lane splitter as a more alternative shape." 388841,24897,Christenson Surfboards,97,jvri,"Dec 10, 2025",2025-12-10T13:18:04-0500,"SeniorGrom said: I'll start by saying I really like the quality construction of the few Christenson boards I've ridden. Yea, the Lane Splitter is considered an closer to the alt side while the CR is more of a performance alt shape if that makes sense, this is how I picture it: ALT Performance Ocean Racer---Fish----Lane Splitter---------------------Cafe Racer--------------OP Series the ocean racer is a board I'd get to grovel with 2+1 for sure, but it can handle steeper waves as a quad. I'd personally prefer a twin for smaller days out of personal preference."
