Our area has nearly doubled in rent in the last 5 years, and home prices are astronomical and continuing to grow. High mortgage rate rises don't mean anything to buyers paying cash, and the low inventory keeps demand high. Most of our new neighbors are from LA and the Bay Area. I went to a tour/talk at a reputable SD nonprofit org last week and the director said the greatest issue for their organization is lack of affordable housing. All of the flaws they are trying to fix (lack of medical care, elder care, homelessness, drug addiction, food insecurity, immigration etc) always come back to lack of affordable housing. And not much can be done about it. When people leave we know they'll likely never be able to afford to come back.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe good reality: If you managed to get in early, or get creative, or push yourself hard enough, you can live in San Diego County. I shared waist/chest high cylinders in a 3/2 with \n@B2Lose\n and \n@glider_boy\n this morning, and it was nearly empty (\nand maybe a bit closed out). \nI'm eating a California burrito as I type this, and it's 70* today Dec 4th."]], "columns": ["post_id", "thread_id", "thread_title", "post_number", "author_username", "post_date", "post_date_iso", "post_body"], "primary_keys": ["post_id"], "primary_key_values": ["299105"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8403199990425492, "license": "Public Domain"}
