It is not anywhere near as bad as the media makes it seem. Sure, prices are high, taxes stink, it can get crowded, and people steal shit. We are the largest populated state and the third largest state. The numerous major metro cities make us an easy media target. CA is not perfect by any means and can improve a lot like most people have stated. That is not my place to give advice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen you live somewhere you know when and where to go places to avoid the crowds and tourism. You learn to navigate and adapt your routines. Just like I'm sure everyone has in their hometowns. We are creatures of habit. Surfing continues to become more accessible and popular and does not seem to be slowing down even after covid. Although when you live somewhere, and put the time in to explore and get to know your area, you can find pockets both in and out of the water to get some alone time if that is what you want. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe positives of living in CA out weigh the negatives in my book. There is so much surf access, mountain access, deserts, forests, state parks, national parks, BLM land, etc. Most of them world class destinations. You can go from the beach to the mountains in the same day if you want to (the California double dip). And quite literally participate in any activity you are into within an hour of your home (usually).  You can live in small secluded towns, or busy large cities. Travel is easy from CA, from driving to flying you are pretty central to a lot of amazing destinations. There is something here for everyone and I think that is the lure of living in CA."]], "columns": ["post_id", "thread_id", "thread_title", "post_number", "author_username", "post_date", "post_date_iso", "post_body"], "primary_keys": ["post_id"], "primary_key_values": ["298948"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9563450003042817, "license": "Public Domain"}
