That's really the most accurate data we have to date, despite reporting flaws.  18% average mortality rate is also pretty low considering that countries like Italy are almost double that.  My calculation also assumes that we live in a vacuum where no one else catches it after today, and it assumes that a cure or vaccine is never developed.
